Anxiety during pregnancy

I know almost every pregnant woman has anxiety but I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder last summer. My husband and I got married in Februaryof this year and found out we were pregnant in May. I don't know if it is my hormones or what but my anxiety is horrible. My doctor still has me on all of my anxiety medications because It's hard for me. Worrying is very hard on the baby I know as well as medication not being good for the baby. How do women deal? It is my first child so I don't know what to expect and I worry about every ache it seems. Plus I was out in the sun ALL weekend on the beach which I drank PLENTY of water and ate every few hours and kept cool in the water but I am burnt today and have a horrible cold and dont know from what. I made a doctors appointment which is in an hour because I dont know what I can and cant take but I have a sore throat runny nose and sinus headache leaving it hard for me to breathe. The anxiety is unbearable all I want to do is sleep and watch movies. (I have some depression too.) Tell me it gets better! Thanks for your answers

  1. Its your first pregnancy, all women are anxious carrying the first baby and with your anxiety disorder makes it worse. You are sick! Its going to be hard to breathe. Your body needs the extra sleep to help recover from the sickness, your baby is requiring more of your energy too. You are right to not take anything without talking to your doctor. DO NOT TAKE NATURAL HERBS without speaking to your doctor!!! Just because they are natural does not mean they are not harmful to you or your baby!!!!  I can't tell you it gets better with your anxiety, but you will feel better once you get over your sickness. Good Luck to you.

  2. I was like that the beginning of mine, horrible anxiety and depression then again I went through a break up with my babies father and found out he left for VA and wasnt comming back cause he had a girl there he liked more then me. :(

But as for colds go tylenol cold is ok in a half dose and so is sudophed, :D

It will get better I promise, try to have your guy help you as much as possible, like taking you out and giving you massages, try Womans Mother To Be tea by Yogi, its good for calming your nerves and depression and helps stomach upset and sinus headaches too

  3. yes it gets better...im fairly positve your hormones being out of wack is what is increasing it so much...have u thought of taking a natural aproach to it like valerian root or sumthing...

    take care

  5. Take a few Minutes and just BREATHE! It is going to be ok. I have anxiety issues and I have an 18 month old (If you think they are stressful before they are born...) Whenever I had a worry about my pregnancy, I would read up on it. "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is a great resource. There are so many reliable resources on pregnancy on the internet too.  Pregnancy is full of aches and pains, most of them are completely normal. Don't take pseudoephedrine (sudofed) for your cold! It is VERY bad. Always ask your Doctor about Medication if you aren't sure (a quick call to one of the Nurse's will probably get you the answer you need).

  6. Well, not to scare you or anything, but you have it easy right now. The baby is safe inside you, and need not to worry about him every second. Just wait until he is born. That is when the worrying really becomes reality, because some things are out of your hands.
