Anxiety on holiday last year?

Last year i went to Iran for 5 weeks.

I got really bad depression/anxiety/OCD/paranoia because i was scared i was going to get ill the whole time from eating something bad.

I am usually like this a lot but on holiday it just got so bad and i was really upset the whole time and kept on crying.

Can someone please help me overcome this?

Is there anything i can do to stop being afraid of being ill/dying?

It really ruined the holiday and is interfering with my life at the moment.

I'm fine when i'm at home in England but out there i just get really paranoid. I washed my hands 20 times in one day.

I also got travel sickness and homesickness when i was there.

I am so much better now but i'm still scared of going on holiday next year...

Please don't write anything bad...Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. try to be more rational.  few people get sick from the food when travelling.  airplanes don't normally crash, etc.  anxiety is irrational fear and you would benefit from talking with a therapist so you aren't dominated by this.

  3. I would personally talk to your Dr. you do seem to suffer from anxiety...you may not be as bad when you are home, but i am assuming you probably still have some symptoms...as you did say its interfering with your life...there are medications that help with anxiety and OCD. Even if your Dr. doesn't have you on at all times he may have you on medication like a tranquilizer during extremely stressful times. However, you might also want to consider counseling, they are qualified to help you with coping skills and get to know you and trained to give you better advice then anyone on here as we do not know you.

  4. What I find really helpful to have a relaxed stress and anxiety free day is to drink a good quantity of alcohol. Have a few good swigs in the morning, take a hip flask with you when you go out, or go to work, and then get stuck into the booze in the late afternoon. It really gives you a good nights sleep and when you wake up feeling a bit fuzzy the next morning a few good swigs will set you up for another good stress free day. I’m having a ball and doing really well with my studies at Uni and part time work
