Is a 'food handler' similar to a waiter?

  1. Technically, anyone who handles food in any way  - preparation, cooking, packaging, serving - is classified as a 'food handler' - and carrying plates of it counts :-) Therefore, waiters/waitresses should have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

    Often, waiters/waitresses are also expected to prepare desserts, coffee and starters - which makes them food handlers practically as well as technically.
