Any 40th birthday party ideas(Chicago area)?

I am trying to plan a 40th birthday party for my Mom and looking for some good ideas in the Chicago land area. It is going to be adults only so I am looking for a bar but with something fun to do such as bowling, pool, etc. but also a nice play not the typical bowling alley or dive bar with a pool table. Also if you have any other ideas please let me know. I am 22 and the type of bars I go to probably wouldn't be so attractive to the older crowd so any ideas will help. Thanks!

Two great bowling places I can think of.... the first would be Southport Lanes - a great place that actually has hand-set pins... so someone has to police the lane so you dont throw a ball into some guys arm or leg.  You rent it out for private parties - Southport near Belmont.

Lucky Strike is another bowling place with facilities for private parties - its in Streeterville as well as Elmhurst.

Both of these places have full bars attached.  SP Lanes has  a fun bar too.

Whirlyball might be enjoyed by the old folks - I think its on Fullerton west of Damen.  Has a full bar, but pretty much isolated to whirlyball people.

Pool tables can be found and reserved at lots of places - try Rock Bottom.  Sheffields (n of belmont) has an outside table, on a non-cub game day you could probably reserve it.

How about a retro 80s band at house of blues or something?  Or maybe seeing the Afrodesiacs or some fun band?  Is Pollly Esthers still open?

Pinestrips in Glenview

Great food, full bar, bowling and bocce ball. It is beautiful venue, sophisticated, but completely fun with the bowling lanes and bocce courts. Worth checking out:
