  1. The only advice to give you is that youneed focus on math to make sure you understand what you didn't understand the first time you took the exam.  With math, you really need to practice a lot in order to understand it.  Besides that, just make sure you get a good night sleep before you retake the test.

All the best and good luck

  2. Sorry Pumpkin, Although I am much much older than you, I empathize with you. Tests are tough; especially when you have to deal with pass/fail  move/stay.  I am a teacher; inaddition to being a terible test taker. I study and study but don't test well. I get good grades because I persevere. I show up, ask for help , raise my hand even when I feel I may look "stupid" in front of my peers and professors. If I failed a test and was givent the chance at a re-take I would definitely speak to the teacher, ask for help, show hom/her that you are putting the hours and effort into learning, retaining, and producing the info. taught. Homework and effort go far in my book. ***Thetest you failed...was it given back to you so you could see the questions/problems you got wrong; therefore knowing the areas you need to focus on and strengthen?  If so practice those problem areas over and over. Have a buddy give you a "pre-test' similiar to the one you already took. Ask the teacher for a practice test. Ask the teacher for extra credit, bonus questions, and/or something to supplement the test you failed. I don't understand how this test is the do or die for you. One test in just 1 subject can hold you back from school a whole year?  I don't understand that? There must be more to the story?  Anyhow try your best, work hard, and sleep well knowing if you tried your best then that is all that you can do. You didn't let anyone down because you failed a test. 8th grade-9th grade tough age I know; but keep your head up, do the next right thing, and be confident in yourself.  When you look back on this years from now you won't be feeling the anxiety your going through now. Good luck sweetie.

  3. study a little a day

  4. OMJ, I'm soooo sorry to hear that :-(.

I think the best thing for you to do is just focus on what you know you need to do. Did you get the retake test back? If so, look at the questions you missed, and do practice questions (like the ones you missed) until you understand what you're doing. Just keep practicing, and you'll get it. You can always ask your teacher, other students in the class (who got some of the questions right), and any of your friends (who passed the class with you) if they could help you.

The worst thing to do (and I know this sounds really hard, but trust me, I've been there) is to cry about it. It happened, and I know it sucks, but crying won't help. Doing something to change the outcome later on will. So crack that book open and start studying :-). And be sure to take a lot (but not too many) study breaks. Make sure you study somewhere that isn't too distracting (or too quiet, depending on your study style - I personally can't study if it's too quiet. I have to listen to my favorite music by the Jonas Brothers. As long as it's not too loud, and I don't get up and dance along, I'm good ;-)!).

And if you need any more advice or tips, feel free to email me. I'm here for you :-). I hope what I said helped a little bit. Good luck!
