We've hit a brick wall with our great-grandfather that was adopted/bonded in 1880. My sister and I both have subscriptions to Ancestry.com so we've searched all the on-line records and have connected with a few people that knew our g-grandfather's adopted family but we've not been as lucky in locating anyone that knew his brother/half-brother John Baily's family.

We are guessing that John Baily (spelled with no "e" on all photos we have) was probably born in or near Maury Co. We know he spent time in Oklahoma and probably Texas. My grandmother had a note in her bible concerning him either owning or working on a dairy in Colorado. That's about all we know about him other than he had a wife and 3 little blonde headed girls in a family photo made in Oklahoma around 1900. I also have a picture of him made in Dallas about 1920.

We are guessing he was born prior to 1877 and died prior to 1953. I'll activate my e-mail if you think you may know of this family. Thanks!

  1. just a thought... the format here is a bit different, and your question will close in 3 days (you can extend for a short time). There are times when people find info after the question closes.. and if your email is not open, you may miss it.  It is set up via a "filter"  so the person does not access your private mail directly or know what it is.

I know of your John.. but only because I think I bumped into you and your question on one of the Tx email lists.

  2. You've probably already searched rootsweb.com, but in case you haven't, I thought this John Bailey seemed close to your description.  You didn't say what your grandfathers name was, so maybe he is one of the siblings?

EDIT:  or this family seems more likely because John Wesley Bailey's birth and death dates, as well as his mother's birth place in Maury County, TN.  Note that one sisters middle name is Pickard and the spelling of Baily in the Maury County Marriages at the bottom.  Just thought this could be something else for you to look into if you haven't already.
