Any CREATIVE ideas for a 50s theme party?

I will be having a 1950's theme party in a rental hall for my 24th birthday. I will of course play 50's music, have records and other 50's decor, and provide milkshakes and soda pop. Any unique suggestions to make it even better?

  1. I helped my aunt throw one awhile ago and we rented a jukbox....that was a real show stopper at the party...give out bandannas to spice up somepeoples coustumes....

  2. We had a blast at my sister's 50th birthday. Here are a few ideas I hope can spark some ideas for your party...

    50's style dance contest

    Bubble gum blowing contest

    Limbo

    Name that 50's tune

    Photo collage of birthday person

    Have fun!

  3. costume contest ... jitterbug contest ... hula hoop contest ... the Twist contest ....  Have a DJ, and model the party after "American Bandstand" ... or recreate Arnold's Diner on "Happy Days"......

  4. find some cardboard cut outs of 50s celebrities to have up in the room- guests can even take pictures with them! find a book (they have them on eBay) about a certain year in the 50s- they tell what was hot then, how much stuff cost and news form that year- you can get more ideas from that and also leave it out at the party for guests to look through.

  5. Elvis music and maybe a disco ball... visit iparty or something. Maybe those poodle skirts

  6. for all the boys you can wear your shorts up really high
