Any English teachers out there?

For my sumemr assignment, I'm supposed to make a connection between a book and my life. I chose Catcher in the Rye, but i didn't make the connection to myself, I made it to something I heard on the news. (The man who killed Lennon was obsessed with the book, I jsut thought it was interesting and I wanted to mention it)

Do you think it'll count against me? Because it's not necessarily tied to me, but..you know.. :P

  1. If the assignment is asking you to make a connection to YOUR life then yes, it would count against you b/c you're obviously not answering the prompt if you connect it to someone else's life. I would suggest digging deep in that book and pulling something, anything that you can relate to.  Any and every book will have something you can relate to, I promise.
