Any Experience with the Funshine express Preschool Curriculum?

My son will be starting a daycare in August that uses the Funshine express preschool curriculum. He will be a year old. Has anyone used or have had their children participate in his curriculum. Have you see any benefits from it? If you are a teacher/day care provider that uses it, why and what do you like about it over other preschool programs? Thank you!

  1. If used correctly, this program is good.  It uses a good mix of games, crafts, songs, writing, letters, colors, and developmentally appropriate activities.  There are many suggestions on how to modify the activities for older or younger children as well.  I use these in my home day care and the kids really like them.

  2. :-)  I do not use this myself but I get them in the mail all the time...and I've seen the projects displayed at other places.  :-)  Here is my personal opinion... they are "cute".  A lot of the activities are paper activities and "crafts" which only have one outcome and as cute as they are...we need to consider whether they are developmentally appropiate.  A lot of these "curriculums" through the mail really are more appropiate for "support" for the classroom's curriculum they already have in place.  I would never use them solely as my curriculum.  Especially in a 1 year old program... these children need free exploration...hands-on activities...sensory activities...movement activities that incorporate basic concepts and such and they can't provide that "through the mail!".  I would ask the day care what they use along with this curriculum...what other planning takes place.
