It's for a Social Studies project. I had to pick an event or time period I would have liked to experience. I chose when Martin Luther King gave his speech "I Have a Dream". I know he wrote 5 books and had 4 children. James Earl Ray killed him and over 300,000 people came to hear his speech. What else??? Thanks!

  1. Your library will have a lot of great books on Dr. King.  You can also use an encyclopedia for general information.  Wikipedia is an OK online source.

John--Huh?  Unless he was writing something out on the hotel balcony, I think you're mistaken.

  2. He was studying to become a reverend around 19.

When he was murdered, he was around 38.

His home was bombed because he wanted fairness and wanted people to respect and love one another no matter of race.

He helped Rosa Parks become free after going to jail.

In your project, you should include what about his speech, "I Have a Dream" that made you want to experience.

  3. he got shot when he was writing something

  4. He plagarized his PhD dissertaion.

His name was Michael (not Martin).

King took inspiration for his I Have a Dream speech from a black preacher's sermon.

King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

King was a very brave man, he must have known he could be killed at any time.  And sadly he was killed.  The fact that King had flaws only proves that he was a regular flawed person who was braver than most.
