Any Financial assistance available in south pasadena ca for struggling single mom of special needs children?

that require fulltime care, a highly structured enviroment, that limits my availability to the outside world, in the areas of rental assistance, utilitiy assistance, transportation, and safety devices to secure home for child with severe Autism and high risk for dangers to self and others. just a little help with financial hardship due to cost of medication. one time only so i can pay over due bills before they get shut off and late rent to avoid eviction.

I had to leave a very prominent career in the software industry to take care of my Autistic sons. I am very sorry that you are in this position all alone.

First thing... if you do not have your son on SSI do that immediately. You will receive funds and your son will be placed on Medi-cal to cover all needed medicine. If you have other children besides the one claimed on SSI you can get Welfare assistance. Health and Human Services will not count income from SSI but they won't count your Autistic son as a person needing aid as well because he will be receiving SSI money and medi-cal already.

Welfare will (if you qualify) give you and the other children food stamps, a small amount of financial aid and medi-cal.

Once you have state financial aid all you have to do is show proof of this to PG&E and SMUD and they will start discounting your bill.

There is a loan you can get from the government to purchase a home with nothing down and set at 4% if you have a disabled child. This is NOT easy to get but worth the footwork right now with homes being so affordable.

I have been told by other parents with children with autism that the salvation army will pay your utility bill one time only. You have to have in your hand a 48 hour shut off notice.

Contact Alta regional center. Your child will have to be approved but once he/she is then they provide transportation, entertainment (saddle pals, karate etc.) and social groups for the child. They also will pay for you to just take a night off once in awhile..... something we all need.
