  1. Prospect Lake is a good spot

  2. Hire a guide from the Arkansas River Fly Fishers in Salida and float the Arkansas River with a guide.  Fly fish for trout.  It is a bit of a drive, but you will really enjoy the fishing trip.  I just came back from doing exactly this trip and had a great time.

There are plenty of small streams in the Colorado Springs area. Visit a fly shop near you to get details and/or to hire a guide.  Explore the immediate Colorado Springs area at http://www.takemefishing.org.

You might also investigate the fly shops in Canon City and fish the Arkansas River above Canon city.  Do the same in Pueblo and fish the Arkansas River near Pueblo or the reservoir.

Get the book, "Flyfisher's Guide to Colorado" by Marty Bartholomew for details.  If you do not fly fish take lessons at one of the fly shops in your area.  I promise you that you will enjoy it.

Sadly, Colorado does not manage its water very well for fishing interests.  The rivers are managed for agriculture interests, so the fishing in Colorado is OK but the catch rate is not as good as elsewhere.  Even the trout fishing in Arkansas is better than in Colorado because of better fisheries management.  Doubt me?  Remember that the world record brown trout was caught on the Red River in Arkansas.  I have found that the catch rate is far better in Arkansas than in Colorado.  Anyway, my point is that you should not be disappointed by a low catch rate. Just be happy and enjoy yourself.

  3. Yes i will Google search it lol
