I have sports day coming up soon, my teacher put me in for 400 meters, I've done it before with my p.e class and I always come close to last. I don't really like the fact of being last in front of the whole school, so does anyone have any good tips on running ?

I also have have a problem at the end of the track, even though I jog through most of it, I never really have enough energy to sprint the end, any tips on that as well ?

  1. what time can you get im 13 and can do 1m.12s  i no someone whos 14 and can do 59s.57 and do 100m in 11.5s

  2. well first of all when you start running the race don't go all out.

run at a slow sprint for the first 200 meters.

beteen 200 and 300 meters start speedin it up then for your last 100 meters run as fast as you can.

some tips during the race is stay relaxed when you stay relax you don't use unnecessary energy and also while youre running make sure your hands are going from chin to hip

  3. practice runnig that far until you dont get so tired and your probly giving to much at the begining and you sont have nohtin left just practice and do some sprints and stuff youll get there

  4. every other day u should practice running in your back yard run full sprints and practice on your starts

  5. Stretch and fuel your body right.

If you eat fast food or junk before the race, you will feel very sluggish. Fuel your body with healthy foods, eat fresh dark greens and whole grains. About an hour or two before the race have a whole wheat bagel for some carb fuel. Stay far from candy, soda and fast food.

Make sure you stretch before and after the race. When running, breathe in through your nose and out your mouth.

Since it's 400 meters, I'd start off at about 70% and then as you get closer to the finish line, step it up and bring it up to about 100%.

Lastly, it's ok to finish last! I was on swim team in high school and my event was the 500 yard swim. I was last on more than a few occasions, but I was always excited when I beat my previous time. Just race against yourself! That way you can feel good about your time :) Good luck.

  6. Keep your body healthy throughout all of your training.... which means.... continue to eat healthy foods!! This will help your body adapt to the strain you're putting on it.
