Any HR Assistants out there?

Hi, are there any HR Assistants out there that would shed a little more light on what you do? I'm looking for daily tasks, salary, how autonomous the job is and some information like that. I'm thinking of applying for a position at a very good company where I live and I just want to know more about the job before I apply. Thanks a lot!

I was an HR Generalist for 8 years.  My assistant scheduled interviews for me, help me review resumes, did daily paperwork (hiring paperwork, tax forms, etc), reviewed integrity surveys, answered the phone.  She also helped me on various projects and did a lot of filing.  The company I worked for was midsized so there were 3 Generalists with 3 assistants.  The function of the assistant varies by the size of the company.  If you want specific details on the company you are looking at, you should ask them for a job description.  Most companies are usually happy to provide it to potential employees.  As for salary, I don't know what area you live in.  You can go to www.salary.com and find out what a position like that in your area pays.
