Is there such thing as a html code that lets people who visit your site subscribe as a member of some kind of group you created?

Yes for both questions, I think it's javascript.

for yahoo groups, as long as it's not a closed/ invite only group, by default there is a join tab on top right of the group, any group that is open or restricted memebrship. yahoo groups also has 2 promote codes which can be added to other sites to direct that person to the yahoo group.
