Question:

Any Jains lurking!?

Is anyone lurking here a Jain or know one?

I'm trying to find out info about the 16 vidyadevis for an article.

I have meager scraps of info and no images yet and yes I have tried Google and Wikipedia.

The 16 vidyadevis may also be known as vidyadharis?

  1. Have you tried looking at a Lonely Planet India guide?  They're normally very informative about a country's religions.  Otherwise I'm afraid I don't personally know any.  I just plugged Jainism into google and it came back with heaps of informative site and resources!

  2. There is a Jain wiki (a wikipedia-like site but all about Jainism)

I would avoid Lonely Planet because they often have wrong info about the South Asian religions (Hinduism/Buddhism/Jainism) - I'm a Hindu and have seen this multiple times

WikiProject Jainism (a subproject of Wikipedia) is largely controlled by practicing Jains... create a Wikipedia account, go to

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_t...

    and ask away!!

    -- Good luck!!

  3. What?

I've never heard of any of that before, I did just look It up though to get an idea and I'm even more confused then ever. I got everything from Hindu to Buddhist to people with horse heads. : s
