Question:

Any Liverpool Fans feel the same way?

I feel that true football fans are being priced out of the game. It is now almost impossible to get tickets at Anfield, even if you have the money you are very lucky to get them. It now seems that Anfield is being filled with Woolys in jester hats instead of the people who have been stood there for generations. Now most people have to put up with watching their team on the T.V.

The average premiership fan is 43. Says it all. Kids are not getting to inherit the traditions, songs and football that they should, they and their parents simply can't afford it. If we are not careful the traditions, scouse ways and everything that Kopites are so famous for will be lost. The kids are simply not getting an oppourtunity to witness the Liverpool FC we all know and love.

So, to try and combat this. A group of red's fans have created 'Liverpool FC's litte brother': AFC Liverpool. AFC Liverpool is for Liverpool fans who simply cannot get to the game. It is hoped that for the time being while the Liverpool traditions cannot be passed on so well at Anfield, AFC Liverpool gives this a chance to happen. If you want to sing proper Anfield chants, take your kids to see the team they love, have a drink with your mates while you watch the match. Then AFC Liverpool might be for you?

I found this and think it really should be checked out. Realistically no-one can get to every Liverpool match for love or money. Of corse, Liverpool FC will always be number one to everyone, but at least you can get the chance to watch live football and try to make up for not being at Anfield.

There are more details on their website:

www.afcliverpool.org (the forum's worth a look too-they all seem like genuine scousers)

And their first game is on Saturday 9th August! I think I'll give it a try and see what it's like!?

  1. I agree with you but don't blame the clubs, for 'pricing us out of the game' blame the offensive wage demands being made by the players!!  I know football can be a 'short career' but reagrdless of lifestyle who seriously needs wages from £40,000 to £140,000 a week?!!!?  Many of these players are earning more money in one week than most of us will earn in a year, some of them could buy most people's houses for two or three weeks wages!

  2. What impact do you think  a 60.000 seat stadium will have? (If any of us live that long)

  3. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Getting to Anfield is becoming almost impossible and football is almost becoming a game for upper class 'fair weather fans'. You can spend a fortune on the phone all day trying for tickets (they even charge you when you can't get through!) and you're still lucky if you get the chance to buy tickets.

To be fair though, Anfield is still filled with true Kopites week-in week-out. The atmosphere proves that.

  4. I know, I remember the days when we just turned up at the turnstiles and paid your money to get in, I used to stand on the kop with whichever mate I'd been able to drag with me that week and I could see my dad standing in the paddock, and I would leave when I saw him leave, them were the days eh?.....I do know about AFC Liverpool but to be honest I don't know if I would be that interested to devote more time to it. Thanks anyway.

  5. apart from the blatent spam, f.c united did this a couple of years back, as is always the case, MANCHESTER UNITED fans are pioneers and trend setters, this is not even remotely sour grapes or i would be a lot  more to the point, and what exactly was your question ?

and if someone had of posted this about fc united there would have been dogs abuse on it a lot worse tham me stating a couple of facts.

  6. AFC Liverpool is a great idea and, credit to LFC, they are supporting it fully!

I agree that it is difficult to get tickets at Anfield but for some reason i have never personally had a problem getting tickets when i want them!

  7. If you had to produce a UK passport as ID to get in to Anfield then there would be plenty of room left for the half a dozen  UK fans that they have who havnt got the sense to walk across Stanley park and watch their local team play.
