Question:

Any Makeover Ideas??

My boyfriend told me today I should think about a makeover. I've got curly hair that tends to get frizzy/puffy so I usually just pull it back in a ponytail, never had anyone teach me how to wear make up and don't know much about fashion so I agree!! Anyone know of any websites that could help get me started since I don't even know where to begin lol.. I'm 21, caucasion, 5'3, pretty slim, hair is shoulder length. The major change I think is going to be the hair so any suggestions are appreciated :)

  1. Green Eyeshadow

    Pink Lipgloss

  2. I would be concerned as to why it never bothered him before - could it be that he is looking for an excuse to see someone else?

It sounds like you need more than a makeover - you need to also show him that you have confidence - if you don't have a job maybe get a part time one for example.

I am only saying this because sometimes people who don't have jobs tend to not bother dressing up as those who go to work would have to and it becomes easy to stay in your 'comfortable clothes' all day.

So maybe buy some s**y underwear and new clothes too.

Take yourself to the hairdresser to find out how to style your hair - but don't let them cut it short - this may help damaged hair grow back better - but if this is your natural hair type you need to know what products to use instead.

Most chemist or beauty product shops will show you different make-up that will suit you if you ask - they may even show you how to apply it for free.

Try downloading photos into makeover sites such as the one I have given a link to for hairstyle and make-up ideas.

If your budget is low buy some magazines and copy the styles.

John Frieda hair products are good for frizzy hair - and if your hair is long enough a pair of plaits looks good even on frizzy hair and men find them s**y. If you have a relative or friend who looks good ask them to go shopping with you. Good luck x

  3. you could go to www.seventeen.com or look up how to videos on you tube for your hair i would suggest a flat iron

  4. One way to change your look is simply by changing your hairstyle. Scrunching or straightening your hair is a great way to start. I don't straighten my hair because mine's pretty straight anyway, but if you're going to straighten your hair, try not to let the flat iron sit on your hair for too long and make sure you use a hydrating shampoo/conditioner so your hair stays healthy. For scrunching, you can use a curling or volumizing hair gel (herbal essences works great!). When your hair is damp, finger-comb a good amount of gel through your hair and then scrunch it, spray your hair with hair spray, and then scrunch it again; repeat that two to three times if you want your curls to be really defined  - but since you have curly hair to begin with, you should be able to do without the hair spray, and going w/o will also make your curls less "crunchy". Try to avoid using mousse because that only makes your hair frizzy. Also a cute alternative when scrunching your hair is to just make a sloppy part on the top of your hair and tie some loose pigtails with a cute ribbon or something. Loose pony tails and messy buns are good too - don't try too hard, the less effort the better it will come out. If you wanna go for a "poof" bobby-pins will be your best friend. If you're still having a frizz problem, Garnier Fructis, Pantene, etc. have anti-fizz serums you can use on your hair.

For make-up, you can pretty much google it - "make-up tips," "make-up tutorials," etc. You can also go on you-tube for how-to videos; they're pretty helpful and mostly step by step, and since you can pause them it makes it convenient to follow along. When choosing eyeshadows you want to go for colors that will complement your eye color - Almay has great trio sets for different eye colors that are pretty much foolproof. Also some simple eye make-up tips:

    - if you want your eyes to really stand out, put a light or neutral color on your lid and then shade a darker color into the crease - that will make your eyes appear bigger

    - if you want your eyes to look bolder or movie-star classy, use a shiny or sparkly light/neutral color on your lid and then shade black eyeshadow into the outer corners of your eyes.

    - for eyeliner on the top lid, sephora.com has a great tutorial for a "natural eye" and their eyeliner technique turns out really nice

    - for eyeliner on the bottom, it depends on how big your eyes are and how much you want them to stand out. If your eyes are smaller, put the eyeliner on the outside of the bottom lid, and only go about 2/3 of the way towards the inner corner of the eye; if your eyes are bigger you can put the eyeliner on the inside of the bottom lid. Either way, make sure that throughout the day your eyeliner doesn't smudge.

For choosing foundations and such, there are websites that you can go to and take quizzes to determine what skin type you are (clinique.com, ivillage.com, etc.) and if you need foundations with moisturizers or oil-control or whatever. When you go to the store to buy face products they usually have color templates there that you can use to match up your skin tone with a foundation color. Lipsticks and blushes are pretty tricky - it's personal preference and skin tone. For lipsticks, blushes, and eyeshadows too, you wanna choose either "cool tones" or "warm tones" depending on your skin tone. An easy way to know if you should use cool tones (blues, greens, purples, maybe pinks/reds) is to look at your forearm, and if you can see your veins through your skin, you should go cool. If you can't see your veins then you need warm tones (browns, oranges, peaches, neutrals, etc.)

Hope this helps, and good luck with your make-over!!!   =)
