At the assesment day when you did the psychomectric tests, did you do the Group Bourden Test (GBT) or the Safety Concentration And Attention Test (SCAAT) Your help is much appreciated. Thank you!

  1. I passed both those tests and a mechanical one plus all the usual ones twice!!

The first time was for Silverlink but they wanted everyone to start as conductors and as I had 3 kids to get childcare for, the wages wouldnt have been enough.

The second time was for Thameslink, only 2 blokes and me got through and being a girl I thought it would be a dead cert.

They said no thanks so I wrote to ask why... you know in case my interview skills were lacking or summat... they said it was cos in terms, I had less experience than the other two!!

OK, for a TRAINEE driver I had less experience than a guy who had spent 18 yrs on the tube in london and a guy who had worked for 6 yrs in a shunters yard.

I still want to drive trains and will apply until I achieve it..

I would love to work for Virgin

  2. Group Bourdon test is the dot test.

Scaat test is where you have shapes instead of dots.

Northern Rail sometimes test potential applicants with Scaat tests to narrow down the applicants.

EWS tend to use Group Bourdon at their assessment centres which are used to test Northern Rail drivers
