Any Nuclear Medicine Technicians out there?

So I am a senior this year and my plan for my life was to be an x-ray tech but my mom told me that being a nuclear med you'll get paid more and you do more than x-rays. I just want to know exactly what nuclear med technicians do? and if you get paid good money, and if its something that someone could stick with. and if the schooling is just way too much to handle.

  1. I'm not one but I have worked near them in a hospital research service.

Nuc med techs administer medicinal radioisotopes, and do scans on patients that have been given imaging isotopes, like technetium-99 for bone scans.  They make good money generally, though not as much as an RN.

They are exposed to a lot of radiation relative to the general population, however, repeated studies have not shown a significant effect on disease or death within the profession.
