  1. I'm O+. I've been a veggie since 2002 and a vegan since January of this year.

I have found that eating a well-balanced diet helps keep me on an even keel. To be honest with you, I struggled with anemia even when I ate meat.

I have "down" times when I know I'm not eating enough iron and my body tells me that. I eat iron sources that are easily absorbed- nuts, dark leafy greens and the like.

I must be keeping my levels up well enough to donate blood every 56 days. :-)

  2. I am 0+, been vegan for 10 months. It has been pretty easy, I take a multi-vitamin and eat a wide variety of veggies. I have not heard about blood type being a factor, that is interesting.

  3. I'm O+ and have been Vegatarin for 5 years. You've just got to make sure you get all the right nutrients. My mum is a nutritionist, which is bad cause shes against my vegaarianism but its also good because she makes sure I get all the vitamins I need. Are you eating lots of Tofu, beans, Spinach, chick peas, lentils, dryed fruit and nuts. Also make sure you have a glass of orange juice at dinner time because it increases you iron intake. You didn't get enough Iron if you become anemic. Even though Iron is found primarly in meat it dosen't mean you cant get enough from other sources.

  4. My wife has the same problem. She would be a pure vegetarian if her hubbie wasn't a carnivore.

Surprisingly enough, it has more to do with the way your body metabolizes sugar and not the meat you eat.

Take it slowly, add powdered vegetable protein and brown rice to your diet, add meat only if you get the shakies.

    Best of luck.

  5. My blood type is 0+ and I have been a vegetarian for about 7 years. What are the symptoms of your sickness? Maybe there is something you aren't getting that you need that I am.

  6. I'm sorry, but it's c**p...It's meat industry propaganda.  If you have a problem see a doctor or a nutritionist...I highly doubt it's because of your blood type though.

  7. I have O type blood and have been vegetarian for years. It is likely that you are not balancing your diet properly and that is why you seem to be having trouble. You should speak with a knowledgeable dietitian on how to properly plan out your meals to include enough iron(taking a supplement is not enough). You should keep track of what you are eating and how much iron you are taking in.

People with type O blood can be perfectly healthy as vegetarians. There are no reliable(and that is the key word) texts that give evidence to the contrary. The entire blood type non-sense comes from one man and one book. Although I have never wasted my time reading it, I have heard that all the claims he makes are not even back up with supporting evidence. The book and his claims are junk science.

  8. I'm O positive and I have been vegetarian for 24 years.

I have never heard of any reliable scientific evidence that blood type makes any difference if you are vegetarian or not.

What are the "many science text books" you mention? Could you give an example? I'm not taunting you, I'd really like to know.

If you have anemia and a clotting disorder I hope you are getting advice from a doctor.

And when you see your doctor, ask about the blood type and vegetarianism thing. I'm certain you'll get the same answer you got from me.
