Any Pentecostal or equaly modest Christian Girls? or anyone with long hair? plz answer?

Question

How do you dress when you go to the pool? I usually wear shorts and a T-shirt, but they get so clingy when they're wet its not even worth it. And what do you do with your hair? Mine's waist length and takes forever to comb out. Is there anything that's cute and yet stays?

I'm a Christian, but I'm not Pentecostal. When I was younger, I had really long hair too. It went down to my rear end. I was also taking a swimming class while my hair was that long.

  Modesty has always been important to me as well. However, I was comfortable in a bikini that more than covered anything important. My top half was usually covered by a rash guard anyway. I know that shirts can be very uncomfortable in the water. One thing you could try is water proof shorts (board shorts) and a rash guard (the thing that goes on under your wetsuit) instead of a loose t shirt. Rash guards also help keep you a bit warmer.

   As for my hair, I wore a swim cap for the last couple of weeks of my class. But around friends this can be very embarrassing. I recommend bringing a some detangling/conditioning spray. wet your hair and spray your hair with it right before you get in the pool. If you want you can put it in a bun after that to make the spray stay in your hair. Use it sparingly and it should help your hair alot by the time you get out. Then spray your hair again when you're done and then brush it out. it also helps reduce the damage that chlorine can do to hair. This always worked for me and I hope that you will be able to use it!

well, i dont know if u would find my ways interesting or helpful or even gross,cuz i am a muslim girl and modesty is also important to us. i had long hair like yours and dont cut too and beside me and my friends go for swim everyday just wearing sweatpants and long sleeved t-shirt. For u i would recommend to wear full t shirt or short sleeved t shirt with capris or pant made of light weigh fabric. for hair me and my friend had long hair and personaly i always wore my hair in single braid.. beside braiding is really helpful and it wont get tangled either.

For long hair (yes I'm a guy with long hair) a braid is best.

For modest swimwear, just Google.

It might help if you look at some of the swimwear designs made by or for Muslim women. Their standards of modesty are considerably higher than any version of Christian I've heard of, so you might find something that suits you (no pun intended) that way.

My hair has been as long as yours and when I went swimming I used to put it in a braid and then wind the braid up like a bun and hold it together with bobby pins.  Just don't do any cannonballs and it should stay in place just fine.  When you get home, wash it out with lots of conditioner and it should comb out easier.

Another option is a bun with a swim cap over it.  When I was in college it was required for all swimmers with long hair to wear a cap.  It makes your head look goofy but it sure keeps your hair in place.

Im a Christian. I wear a bikini. and why are u asking this? just because you're a Christian doesnt mean you have to have hair down to ur butt and wear clothes in the pool. Are you Amish or something? Its not a sin to wear a bikini, two peice or one piece. and why is ur hair so long? what does that have to do with being a Christian?

I usually wear some type of white t-shirt over my bathing suit and some type of shorts or capris.

As for my hair, i just have mother braid it before so i won't have to deal with it.

I am sorry that so many people are answering your question and they do not have any clue that you are not only concerned about the "christian" part- but more so-- the PENTECOSTAL part!!!

(to educate the public: being pentecostal comes with a lot of life style choices, including, but not limited to wearing only skirts and having hair that is never cut--which explains the length of her hair---see 1 Corinthians 11:5-6 for more details....PLEASE, educate yourself before you make a comment)

I would suggest-- for your hair, putting it up and putting a bandana over it, or in a swim cap if you feel comfortable with that...

another idea-- get a cute one piece, or if you don't like one pieces, get a cute tankini and go buy some board shorts (I usually get board shorts out of the guys section-- they have a looser fit!) so, you can mix and match! :)

Hair wise I just through mine up into a braided bun or in a style to where it doesn't get into my face.

I have to say I really respect you for being that modest for the sake of your religion.  I'm not pentecostal, but I can see your point.

That aside, I wear a two-piece from d**k's Sporting goods.  The top is like a tank top, and the bottoms are special shorts.  If you want more modest than that, others have given good answers about the modest swimwear website.

Hairstyles, up I recommend pulling your hair into a high ponytail, braiding it, then wrapping the brade around into a bun to keep your hair neat.

I think there are websites that sell modest swimwear for girls in your situation.  I'll have to do a search and see if I can find it.

I'm a modest Christian girl.  I just wear one-piece swim suits.  Sometimes I will wear a bikini and a tank top.  I don't do anything particular with my hair.  It reaches a little below my chest so I just put it up in a high ponytail with no-slip grip hairbands that come in all sorts of colors.

By the way, what does "pentecostal" mean?  I'm from the Evangelical Covenant Church.
