  1. Its hard but manageable as long as your not a complete idiot ...and your able to use a computer so i doubt you are

  2. Never doubt yourself if you want to accomplish. if you want to be a pilot my suggestion is first check out all the local flight schools in your area and figure the costs to attend. Flying is very expensive and since oil prices are rising training will get even higher. Next you should get a medical certificate from a local certified FAA physician. You should at least get a first class or second class medical certificate. the difference is in what you qualify for. your medical certificate also serves as your student pilot certificate which is required to fly as a student in the U.S..  if you would like to know where one is located near you vistit www.faa.gov. This site is the governments website on everything you want to know about being a pilot and is the government agency that regulates flight in the United States. After you train you could be elgible to apply for a private pilot certificate. After your private pilot if you want to continue you should get your IFR ceritificate which qualify's you to fly in the clouds your multi-engine certifiacte and if your 21 with enough flight time try for the commercial or transport certificates. Yes, math is required but I'm not good either. as long as you study hard you should do well. DONT LET MATH BE A DETERMINING FACTOR FOR YOUR AERONAUTICAL EDUCATION. Just try hard.

    good luck.

  3. You don't gotta be a geek to be a pilot - a lot of people think that. Being a pilot requires a TON of math, but it's mostly simple math like multipulcation and division.

  4. Some of the dumbest people I know are pilots...but...They are very hard workers. I'm not very good with math and I'm a pilot. Obviously it will help to be good at math but if you are committed and work hard, you will succeed in aviation. Good luck to you.

  5. good question. i want to be a pilot too.

everyone can be good at math, you can do it if you just get some extra help and study harder.

in the end i think it is worth it.

  6. Maths should not be a stumbling block for you to become a pilot. The modern  electronics and calculators have made sure that maths is handled by them and not by people like you. Go ahead and pursue your dream and you will surely succeed. Good luck.

  7. The calculations and conversions specific to flying can be done easily without a lot of mathematics. Also a lot of it has been simplified with technology like flight calculators and such.

I graduated college and am working on a private license now and I have to say it is absolutely amazing.

  8. Maths was never my forte in school either. I am now an Airline captain.

However maths as applied  to aviation is very specific and practical. Therefore you only need master specific areas, If you poses the many other qualities necessary to succeed both in training and its application.

An average high school math grade should not be an impediment. Good Luck!

  9. You don't need to be good at math, but it really does help.  It'll make it a little bit tougher to make your calculations on the ground and in the air, but there was never a math test.  My examiner for my private license was amazed at how I was able to do almost instant calculations, whereas he had to give some people 10 minutes to do a route time calculation, so you don't have to be a math genius to pass the test.

That isn't to say that there isn't a lot of math involved, there is on many flights.  Just be sure that you do a very thorough job on the ground with planning your flights.

In the school you'll learn the regulations, weather information, procedures, aircraft systems, and the most fun part - the flying.

Difficulty - It definitely takes a great deal of work to be a safe and skilled pilot, but if you really enjoy it like most pilots, you'll be more than happy to work through the challenges.

One thing that I'd recommend to you is to go to a flight school and take a discovery flight with a flight instructor.  You'll get to experience flying the plane and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Good luck in your decision, it's a lot of fun.
