Question:

Any Poker Tournament ideas?

I am hosting a Poker Tournament for a fundraiser. I know all the legalities involved with holding this, however I've never played poker before. I know the jest of it and the rules, but never played in a live game. What are somethings that I need to keep in mind for this to be successful.

Also, what can I have ready for the people that get knocked out of the game?

  1. Just have them play straight up "Texas Hold 'Em" style poker. Allow a player to "re-buy" one time only after they get knocked out.

If you want to keep players around after they've been completely eliminated, have a side "fun" no money table where players can play a "Dealer's Choice" poker game.

  2. Join PokerGob.com and ask them to sponsor your event.  Tell them you found this post on Yahoo!  I am sure they could help you with some ideas.

  3. Set up a No-limit hold'em tourney. Allow rebuys for the first hour. So people can have fun and set up little side for the people who get knocked out and a large bar!!!
