Any Realtor's in DR that I can trust and depend on them to get back to me?

Question

I have contacted a few realtor's in DR regarding rentals in Puerto Plata area, and no one has returned my emails. I have contacted them over and over by email and by phone and still no response. When I get them on the phone, they seem so friendly and they say they will contact me immediately. If they have nothing for me, why can't they just say it.

If anyone knows any honest and descent Realtor's please let me know. I plan on moving there and I already bought my plane ticket. But I have no place to go to. PLEASE HELP, ANYONE.

CAN YOU TRUST A LAWYER TO GET BACK TO YOU ?    ONE POSSIBLE REASON IS THAT THEY PROBABLY DONT HAVE ANYTHING FOR YOU AND EVEN IF THEY DID , THE CALL TO YOU PROBABLY COSTS MORE THAN THIER COMMISSION . IF YOU WERE BUYING SOMETHING THEYD BE ALL OVER YOU .  LET ME THROW YOU A SUGGESTION AS I SPENT CLOSE TO 2 YEARS LIVING IN THE P .PLATA AREA  AND CAN RELATE TO YOUR SITUATION . YOUR BEST DEALS ON RENTALS WILL MOST LIKELY BE FOUND DIRECTLY THROUGH OWNERS OR LAND LORDS  , NOT REALTORS . MAKE A RESERVATION AT A HOTEL FOR  ATLEAST YOUR 1ST MONTHS STAY WITH A REASONABLE MONTHLY RATE  AND THATS CLOSE TO WHERE YOU NEED TO BE  AND THAN DO YOUR RESEARCH FOR APARTMENTS OR HOUSING RENTALS WHEN YOU ARRIVE .  LIKE MYSELF , CHANCES ARE   YOU CAN FIND  A HOTEL WITH A RATE CLOSE TO OR MAYBE LESS THAN WHAT YOUR READY TO SPEND WHEN YOU DO FIND SOMETHING . THIS WAY YOU WONT BE SO PRESSURED AND YOU CAN REALLY GET TO KNOW THE AREA BEFORE YOU SIGN A LONG TERM LEASE IN A PLACE YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE . . YOU CAN RENT A NICE EFFICIENCY AND STAY AS LONG AS YOU NEED .  I LIVED IN SOSUA WHICH IS ABOUT 20 MILES FROM P.P .  I DONT KNOW YOUR SITUATION OR YOUR NEEDS , BUT IF YOU NEED A COUPLE OF NUMBERS , I CAN DIRECT YOU TO SOME SAFE ,WELL LOCATED PLACES WITH MONTHLY RATES AS LOW AS 300 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A FURNISHED EFFICIENCY WITH A POOL , SECURITY , AND MAID SERVICE INCLUDED . My suggestion is be very leery on dealing with Dominican realtors and/or  lawyers by email or phone.  Many aren't reputable.  You might try contacting Ginnie Bedggood  Ginnie and her mate Grahame Bush have helped many  on their resettlement in the DR and they have no vested interest.  Good luck.

Make sure to deal with realtors that come in recommended by more than 1 person. I recommend you to search or post at the forums at dr1.com, which has by far the largest ex-pat online community in the Dominican Republic. For a reputable law firm in the north coast you should consider Guzman Ariza in Sosua, probably the largest in the area; they also have five or six other offices around the country.
