  1. Work up to where you can and keep training until you can run the

    1.5

  2. just work up to it do half a mile one day then another half the next day untill you get up to 1.5 miles...good luck!

  3. well, normally i'd say set a goal first.  but, you have it.  run 1.5 miles.  Good goal!

Next, figure out how to motivate yourself to run.  do you need to schedule it like an appointment?  Do you need a partner to tell you to go out, or to run with you?  Figure out how to get yourself out to run, and you'll not only run, but you'll find you start to enjoy it.

Get a pair or two of running shoes from a local running store.  At places such as the nike store or foot locker, they only measure foot size, they don't take into account arch height, or if you pronate/suppronate.  Go to a running store, and they will take things like these into account, and give you the best fitting shoe you can have.

Next, you'll have to get out and run.  Don't try to do everything at once, because you'll discourage yourself.  Take it one step at a time.  start out by maybe jogging for about a minute or two, and then walking for a minute or two.  try to do this for maybe 10 or 15 minutes.  Keep doing for around 2 weeks, or when you feel you can step up a level.  then, jog for 2 minutes, with one minute break.  repeat the process until you reach your goal.

remember, stretching and icing are both very important!  I'll include a link for a site that helps with better stretching below.

Hydration is also very important.  Be sure to drink plenty of water, because it allows nutrients to get to your muscles, and waste to be taken away.

After you finish running, get a snack in.  It helps with recovery.  It can be anything, a small bowl of cereal, peanuts, granola bars, grapes, anything at all!  just get something in

Good luck, and i'm sure you'll meet your goal!
