Question:

Any Starbucks baristas here?

I have a technical question.

A shot of espresso is good for only 10 seconds, meaning you have to incorporate it into the drink within 10 seconds after it pulled.

What if I poured the shot only into syrup, no steamed milk was in the cup yet.

Isn't the shot still good because it mixed with the syrup?

  1. It would probably still be good, but if your going by starbucks' rules than the shot wouldn't be good no matter if its not used before the 10 seconds. Weird huh? I thought the same thing while working.

Edit, actually the shot isn't good after 10 seconds because after the 10 second mark, it becomes bitter. Eventually no longer being a desirable shot!

  2. Depends on the syrup.

I think the thin ones in the clear bottles aren't going to keep it from going bad quickly.

Always make sure your milk is ready...avoid the risk.  The ONLY time I'll ever let a shot sit longer is if it's in white mocha, b/c it's the thickest and sweetest...and that's only in extreme cases.
