Question:

Any Suggestions for Homemade Boudoir Pictures?

I want to take some classy yet s**y photos for my boyfriend. I plan on putting them together in a nice book for him. But I need ideas on ways to go about it. What should I wear, where should I do this...etc.

I'm working on the project now, but my creativity seems to be wearing thin, mostly due to work all the time and cleaning house and rarely having any free time.

Any ideas, regarding the pictures themselves or the putting together of the pictures would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. If you have the budget, try searching the web for local studio photographers. They are very creative people and can suggest things you might never have thought of and still be able to get the lighting and focus right.  My wife did this for a couple of clients who were overseas or in jail.  You may be looking at $1000 or more to get it done but it will be something you can be proud of.

DL, there are people who will do it for less but not people with experience and talent.  As you say, you get what you pay for.  If you want discount pricing you get discount quality.  If you want great pictures you pay for a professional.

  2. $1000 bucks? LMAO

there are pro photogs who will do it for less. a LOT less.

yes you get what you pay for but thats high for a few boudoir pics.

  3. Really I would go to a professional.

I specialize in that myself. I have tons of props, back grounds, rose petals, covering, costumes.

Taking the photos by yourself is hard... and they end up looking like typical self portraits like on myspace.

  4. The only idea to suggest is to wear a see-through gown and take the pictures again a window.  Expose for the window, set the camera on a tripod and then place yourself next to the window and wait for the timer to take the shot.

Pretty much the window will be properly exposed and it will render you as a silhouette

    Good luck!

  5. There are a number of folks that can do this for you. If you look on onemodelplace.com  or model mayhem you can find photographers in your area that will help. Prices may go from TFCD if you are willing to let them put the photos in thier portfolio to costing a bit if you want them for your use only. Who ever you use make sure you use a release that spells out your rights and the photographers rights for photo use. Also you want a photographer that will let you bring an escort.

As to what to wear, any lingerie, a lacy swatch of cloth, a satin sheet wrapped around you, a large towel, schoolgirl outfilt, tight jeans topless with your hands covering where your top normally would, short skit with lacy things peeking from underneath, the list goes on and on.

Find a place with soft lighting not direct harsh light. It can be inside or outside. It should be someplace with a reasonable expectation of privacy so you relax into the shoot. tense models do not go well with a good shoot. There are a number of good books on this if you want some titles feel free to email me

There are several companies now that will make them photobooks for you. Some photographers will give you a CD of the photos you can use to have them made yourself. Others will make them for you as part of the agreed price.
