  1. I belong to a few as well that I post on occasionally.  The regular one I post to is

    http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/wor...

Worldwide members are mostly from the Mid-Atlantic but also has members and gets postings from Florida, Australia, Hawaii, Huntington Beach, and Europe.  A number of surf instructors, shapers and pros are members.  It's run by Brian Magaleta, a surf photog for ESM.  Besides general surf related information, some posts deal with significant issues related to industry.

I also read and sometimes post to

    http://2ndlight.com/fusetalk/forum/index...

2nd Light is primarily a forum for Florida surfers with the majority of members living probably between Cocoa Beach and Sebastian Inlet.  Lots of surf information and local issues, plus some interesting general surf discussions.

The Oregon Surf forum deals with some unique issues you might not hear about anywhere else.  The Pacific Northwest is a region unto itself and some posts are overly entertaining.

    http://groups.google.com/group/alt.surfi...

alt.surfing is the original newsgroup for surfers.  I first posted on it around 1993, and some early members still post there.  It's sometimes a good source for hearing initial announcements when something significant happens or someone in the sport dies.  There is also a similar newsgroup for longboarders but I don't see many good posts on it lately.

This forum is focused on shapers.  If you are into shaping, it might be of interest to you.
