  1. Study, Practice, perhaps invest in Rosetta Stone or similar.

I was raised in a German. "broken" English speaking home, but found it tedious to ACT incorrectly to sound that way.

It is however a fascinating experience to learn dialetcs, and be convincing when using them. I promise, most in an audience won't know or care, other than those who are German.

  2. There are some excellent dialect study materials available out there.

And whatever you do, please do NOT pronounce the words "this" as "zis" and "the" as "zuh" -- that is so inane.  A beginning "th" IS light in a German dialect and has a lot of air in it, but it does NOT become a blatant "Z" sound.  :-)

  3. Learn IPA and you'll be able to do any accent you want.

  4. Pronounce the er lik Uhr. instead of german say Guh rmahn. Try raising the pitch of your voice.
