This year I'm playing on varsity and my coach has made me the defensive specialist. I was wondering if any defensive specialists have any tips for me or someone who has knowledge about being defensive on the court have any tips for me.

~Thanks~

  1. Get Low!

  2. As a DS, my best advice is to never ever let the ball hit the floor without you also hitting the floor.  Take this as advice in practice and in games.  Hit the floor even when it might look stupid, if the ball's way off, and realistically noone can get to it, run 100% and hit the floor anyway.  If you stand out the girl who chases down every ball 100% of the time, you'll eventually get one ball up that not one person in the gym thinks is possible to get.

  3. Get low, and stay there. Don't ever get caught standing up. And be aggressive, your position title says it all.

  4. Go after every ball - every, every, EVERY ball!
