Any Tips on how to do a BackHandspring?????

Plz I would really love to get over my fears of hurting myself. I also need some tips on how to do a back handspring anyway. I already know how to do a front handspring, front walkover and a backbend. I can do many more but everytime i try to go to do a back handspring I always freak out that im gonna hurt myself. Plz help!!

NOTE: ONLY TUMBLERS AND GYMNASTS MAY ANSWER THIS QUESTION!!!

  1. hey!

    well you need to glue ur hands to ur ears and slightly bend your knees like your sitting in a chair. then swing your arms behind you (like i tought you to do during a front handspring)and then jump up and back. make sure to keep your legs straight the whole time your in the air! act like they are glued together also, they need to be squeezed together. sort of like a front handspring you need to look at your hands once you spring back. then throw your feet back and snap up.make sure to do it on a soft surface and ALWAYS have a spotter!!!! Have faith in yourself and do not be scared! i would suggest taking tumbling classes (lol) but if you do have any doubts that you are not ready to complete a trick, ask a coach or a proffesional gymnast before attempting. i hope i could help = ]


  2. im a gymnast and a cheerleader. u really need to get a professional to teach u how to do a backhandspring or u will hurt yourself trying. they're really scary at first but if u keep doing them they get easier and less scary.

  3. I had the same problem you have. Just lock your arms (be sure to squeeze them as tight as you possibly can!) and the worst that can happen is that you'll land on your knees. Don't freak out because you'll land on your head!!! Keep going through and don't be scared - that's holding you back.

  4. you dont need a professional...try on your bed for example im a cheerleader and a gymnast and i was deathly afraid of doing my backhandspring the most important thing is to keep your arms locked and do nottt sit too low your going to put your arms right by your ears and go into a sitting position and push off with your legs! DO NOT BEND YOUR ARMS
