Any Tips that work to get rid of Squirrels?

A large Oak tree bordering our house is home to a lot of squirrels. Not much trouble at first, but now find they are making large holes in our lawn to bury their booty. We tried one of those sonar systems, but the little b......'s just carried on within it's range!

Any ideas or advice would be very welcome.

Live traps.  Just be sure there aren't babies up there first.  My brother shoots them...I feed them...HAHA!

OR, Chain a dog to the tree for a bit.  That'll scare them away.

I have a huge syringe , i fill it with water [cold] and spray them, seems to keep them away for a while like 10 minutes or so:) For my feeders we smear vaseline or ghries on the poles , when they try to climb up the pole to get to the feeders they slide down, quite funny just hope we are not hurting them.

I tried several things and found the best way to get rid of squirrels is to live trap them and release them out in the country.  I talked to the people in my city and they said it was ok.

You could try the Scarecrow cat deterrent, the water one. It's got a motion sensor and sends out a powerful jet of water when triggered.
