Does the post office forward your W-2s to your new address? If not, what happens to your W-2?

  1. If you have a valid Change Of Address on file that is 12 months old or less, and, the sender has not endorsed the letter in a way that would not allow forwarding, then yes, it will be sent to your new address.

    There are cases where a mailer will endorse "Do Not Forward" or use one of the Service Endorsments that would return the letter to them instead of forwarding. Also, if your COA order is more than 12 months old, it will be returned to the sender.

    Either way, it will come to you, or it will be returned to the sender.


  2. Yes, your information is kept with a Postal vendor that does accounting.
