Question:

Any Yorkie breeders in Southeastern OK that have a female pup available that will stay very small as an adult?

I live in Southeastern Oklahoma and I am looking for a yorkie puppy to adopt. I want a female that will still be very small as an adult. (Some might call it a "teacup" or "toy" or "micro mini") I don't care about the labels, I just want a pup that will still be very small as an adult. I want her to be black and gold/tan, but am open to considering a blue.

I would appreciate any input from people in the Southeastern OK or surrounding areas that have gotten a puppy nearby. Who did you get it from and did you have a good experience with that breeder? Would you recommend that person to a friend if they were looking for a yorkie?

  1. Go to the yorkie club to get a referral to a reputable breeder.

    http://www.ytca.org/

Yorkies are under 7 pounds..  a reputable breeder is one who breeds for dogs that fit that standard..  a pup from them will most likely be under 7 pounds, which is tiny.

I would never reccommend a breeder who labels their dogs as "teacups" "toys" "microminis" or any other size.

Expect to get on a waiting list for a pup from a good breeder.

Also you wont find a "black" one..  yorkies fade to a steel blue.  They appear black and tan as a pup.. but they will fade as they mature.

  2. http://ytca.org - national breed club they can put you in touch with breeders in your area.

AND i highly suggest if you don't want to get down do not and I mean no don't use the words teacup, tiny toy, micro mini etc. The breeder will more than likely hang up on you.

Well bred yorkies are between 4 and 7lbs. A good breeder cannot guarantee the size of the dog as an adult if say a 5lb and a 7lb dog are the parents however just say you want a small dog and if they have any puppy who will probably be on the 4lbs or possibly 3 lbs side of things they will be able to help you.

Color is the last thing you should worry about.

  3. How small are you talking? Yorkie's are already small. I wouldn't get any type of dog that is know as teacup or even micro mini all it is, is a runt and they usually have problems especially at first. Trust me i know.

Search for rescues in your area. Get an older dog then this way you will know exactly how big it is as an adult.

  4. You just asked this question 19 mins. ago.  You had three answers.

Google yorkie breeders and type in your city, state, zip code and  you'll get lots of hits.  Do some research, look in your newspaper, looks in your phone book, call a few vets and ask if they know of any in the area, call the humane society and see if they know of any, ask some friends, find a local yorkie group and ask them for names.

  5. well i hope your ready to pay some big vet bills, and good luck with the dog living long enough to even become an adult.. they are poorly bred and very unhealthy.. regular Yorkies arent small enough????

if you buy one of these mutts then you are supporting BYB's and Puppy mills.

  6. I answered this before, however I don't think you're understanding what everyone is trying to tell you.  If you want a "Designer Dog" then I hope that you are prepared to deal with the health problems that come with it.  Buying a puppy like that just because it's "cute" and "in style" right now is ridiculous and irresponsible.

I would do some research about "teacup" Yorkies. True Yorkie breeders would NEVER breed for this type of body type. They are too prone to trachea collapses because of leashes, and broken bones. If find a "breeder" that has or label their dogs at "Teacup Yorkies", then you can pretty much be assured that the breeder is NOT reputable. They should be able to show you that they are breeding according to Yorkie Breed Standard.

Also, there is nothing mentioned in your post about temperament. That is also something a reputable breeder would be concerned about.
