  1. Try to compact everything into as few boxes/packages as possible. Not saying you shouldn't bring what you need, just try to stuff things into each other to save some room. Also you can buy Bed in a Bag and things like that that are specially designed to be space savers.

The fewer trips from the car to through the crowded hallways the better! :)

  2. Here are a couple links to good packing lists. You'll probably end up bringing more than you thought you would, but you'll need it all, LOL.

Read the comments below this list for great tips, too:

  3. clothes, sheets, food, computer, tv, whatever you want, towels,

just make sure you have what you need.

  4. Instead of putting things in boxes, use containers you're already bringing along to put other items in, such as putting shampoo, soap and toothpaste in shower caddies or waste baskets, and putting clothing in laundry baskets.

Actually, Walmart.com has a few articles that are pretty useful in packing for college such as

    what to bring, http://instoresnow.walmart.com/Back-To-S...

    and packing, http://instoresnow.walmart.com/Back-To-S... .

  5. When I read your question, it made me think back to the summer before my freshman year of college.  Man, was I nervous that I would forget to pack something!  I would definitely make a list of things you will need- asking other family members and friends to read over it and note anything you might be missing.  Remember the following:

    toothbrush/toothpaste

    kleenex

    paper towel

    toiler paper (just in case!)

    band-aids

    shampoo/conditioner

    razors

    shaving gel

    body soap

    girl products (if necessary)

    snacks

    water

    money

    bathing suit (you never know)

    underwear

    socks

    bra

    pants, shorts. skirts

    shirts, tank tops, sweaters

    pajamas

    shoes/slippers/boots

    flip flops for shower

    towels/washclothes

    bedspread

    sheets

    pillows/pillowcases

    q-tips/cotton balls

    aspirin

    notebooks/folders/binders

    pen/pencils/highlighters

    markers/colored pencils

    stapler/staples

    scissors

    paper clips

    computer

    printer

    printer ink/paper

    travel drive

    envelopes and stamps

    batteries

    flashlight

    camera

    backpack

    jewelery

    coat

list of emergency numbers (parents, grandparents, doctor, etc.)

    rubber bands

I could probably continue the list on for several pages.  Just think of any possible situation and pack accordingly!

  6. You could put things like clothes or other things what have a lot of air in them in plastic bags.  That way you get rid of the air that you don't need and you have more space to pack more stuff.  I know you can even buy some bags made especially for that and you just vacuum the air out.
