Question:

Any advice for buying my husband a marine radio for his bass boat?

My husband is an aspiring bass amateur, who will be fishing in quite a few tournaments this summer. He does not have a radio on the boat, and I would like to purchase one for him for our one year anniversary. Good for him to have tunes while he fishes, and peace of mind for me knowing he can get the weather updates. He has a beautiful Nitro Bass boat, and I know I would like to have it be Sirius compatible, but other than that I am clueless as to what I should be shopping for. Any suggestions fellow boaters? Thanks so much!

  1. I don't know jack about marine radios, but congratulations on being one of the best wives ever

  2. seriously, he won't be playing music during tournaments.

are his navionics top of the line - there's almost always a GPS or map upgrade.

  3. buy him a nice boudoir set with garters give him what he wants, not what you hope to think he needs. if he needed a marine radio while fishing intensly connected to a tournaments grueling attention deficit disorder then if he can afford a bass boat he would have afforded a marine radio. you want the radio because you are bored while he is fishing so take your IPOD with you nex time.

  4. I have seen a really nice marine specific unit on Alpine's website.  They Might be a little pricey but are great stereos.  They are satellite ready and have awesome full speed Ipod control so he won't need to mess with cd's.  You should check it out.  www.alpine-usa.com.  Or www.crutchfield.com for lots of info on many other marine options.

  5. There are a number of great radios on the market.  Clarion, Jensen, & Sony ae a few brands.  A brand - JBL - has several units that I have used and work well.

If he is going to install try an online catalog store like Overton's :  http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/...

If you need someone to install I would suggest going to a local marine store or boat dealer and purchase it from them and have them install the unit.  Just make sure it is a "Marine" AM / FM Satellite Radio.

    and congrats on the anniversary!
