I know the obvious about givine a bottle during take off and landing. I know to have plenty of toys and a dvd player and a change of cloths, wipes/diapers and that sort of thing. I get it.....but i am looking for any out of the box suggestions

  1. Ambesol (spelling?) or another analgesic to ease teething pain.  While you're at it, how about some baby aspirin for the kid and extra-strength pain reliever for yourself?

Some infants don't have any problems and are mostly quiet for the entire flight.  Others end up crying themselves to sleep off and on until touchdown.  Lets' hope yours is one of the former...and I'm not sitting close to you if it's the latter ;)  Good luck!!

  2. I bring earplugs too

  3. Valium. haha just kidding. I think you are all set, Dvd player extra clothes. The one who is going to need help, is you. Forget about the other passangers, if your baby starts crying and someone gives you a dirty look, because they can't watch the movie. Stand up and pop him in the face. Make an example of him. The Flight attendats are experts at these kinds of things so they can help you out. Don't get frustrated.

  4. A couple of tablespoons of Benedryl.

  5. Don't do it!

  6. Hire someone to fly with your kid and jump on the next plane!

  7. I think you have about covered them all in your question.  I used to live in India and would come home to Canada once or twice a year.  We did this with two kids and at various times they were around 10 months.  DVD player and such would have been pretty much useless I would think but other then that just bring lots of diapers and such.

To be honest with you, the Stewards and Stewardess' were great when we travelled (most times Business Class but we went Economy from time to time) and when the baby got fussy they would often take them just to give us a break.

Be prepared for tears on take off and landing due to the pressure changes but just have a bottle or soother handy and it should help.

    Good luck.
