  1. Not the sort of job you want to tackle unless you are super confident. I to have made a lot of money making repairs when those who think they know what they are doing find out they didn,t. They are tricky no matter what you think. Tradesmen have trouble with these so be careful. It is not the actual leak that is the problem when it occurs it is the damage to supporting structures that cost a fortune to repair.


  2. Consider purchasing a tubular skylight, makes a smaller hole in the roof and is much easier to install than a standard skylight.  The installation of the flashing at the roof is critical, take your time and follow the instructions.

  3. Don't!!! I made a fortune reroofing around leaking skylights.It may not leak when you first put it in but one day it will.

  4. Follow the manufacturer's skylight installation instructions. Most important is to seal it well with silicone to prevent water leakage.
