Question:

Any advice on painting accent walls?

I just moved into a new home and would like to add color to my living room. The room is not very big and has one window - a large picture window that sits above my couch.

I believe that painting the entire room might close the space up even more, but am thinking perhaps an accent wall would work?

Which wall would be the best? Should I still keep the color light?

I would appreciate any advice from knowledgeable people!

Thanks!

  1. I agree NO WALL PAPER! An accent wall is nice and the easiest way to pick the colors is right off the color swatch. The next darker shade down is usually a good match. And don't forget the ceiling, it doesn't always have to be white and sometimes color can give it the allusion of being taller. Also, stripes, vertical, can give a different look and had height.

  2. please do not use wallpaper. i mean, it's your preference, but when you get tired of it it's a pain whereas with paint you can always paint over it easily and a lot less messy.

The accent wall is a fine idea and it can be light or dark, it's your call you have to look at. However, furniture placement is more important to consider than the window wall.

Can you post a pic or floor layout?

  3. Hi, i would say a nice wallpaper on one wall, maybe the opposite wall to the window so some light can reflect off it?? Just a thought
