Alright, so I have to decide what schooling I will be taking this week. I love marketing and creating diaramas and projects and short stories and writing. I took marketing for 2 years on highschool and loved it! I am really wanting to work for a magazine like COSMOPOLITAN or something along those lines. Is there any one out there who works for a magazine that has any advice on specific courses to take and what area would fit my skills if any? I would really appreciate any help! Thanx so much!!!

  1. If you major in marketing, you will learn about the 4 P's and business in general.  You will NOT learn about the creative process or techniques that you are describing.  If you can (I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up and I'm 40), decide what direction you want to take.  If you want to be on the business side, major in marketing.  If you want to be on the creative side, then you should investigate a major that focuses on design, art, etc.

  2. your local state university's

  3. If your focus is magazine publications: courses I'd recommend are journalism related, publishing, layout and design (you might want to look for graphic communications programs or publishing programs that have a magazine publication stream), marketing, sales, business management, editing, proofing...just to name a few.
