my daughter is 9weeks old and has been exclusively breastfed... however we want to also get her used to taking bottles for when she starts daycare (in a month) or just so his dad could also take over a feeding if need be...

the problem is that we started about a week ago and she still doesn't know how to take it... we'll put it in her mouth and she won't really know what to do with it, she'll press it between her tongue and her upper palate... any advice on how we could help her?????

has anyone gone through a similar situation and eventually succeeded???

thanks in advance.

  1. Just like the 2 guys mentioned above

  2. I would try to mimic the breastfeeding scenario as close as possible. When it is time to feed, let her latch on to mom and then when it is time to burp, introduce the bottle to her after. Try placing the bottle as close to the nipple as possible, so she thinks she is still latching on to mommy. For some babies, it's not that they can't do it, it is just that they have a routine that is being changed. Introduce this new change slowly.

  3. Try http://www.llli.org and http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au

They may have some useful advice

  4. change nipple styles till you find one she likes

  5. google mam bottles, designed to be as close to breast feeding as possible, and they are inexpensive!
