  2. Hey  man  take  frequent breaks  during  work you  need  atleast  7  hours  of  sleep a day. break  means  taking  a walk , talking  to  your  co-workers. please  dont  drive after a night shift. Listen  to  some  music  during  work

  3. I started working at 18 years old working a 7 day shift

then off two days. Days off were monday and tuesday and once a month a long weekend. By 22 years old I was quite depressed. I had no concept of statuary holidays, none!

No Easter, Labour day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

Certainly never saw those great Saturday morning cartoons.

I seldom saw daylight and more importantly I seldom had a sunny weekend to myself.

Even if I did, who coould I socialize with? People are active when we are sleeping (daytime)!

Not including the messed up sleeping patterns, too much coffee and cigarettes. At social events, I was the party bore or had too sleep or was at work. Good for marriage? Good for kids?- I doubt that!  The good news, I quit at 25 years old, after 7 years. I Enjoyed daylight hours ever since. I may not have ever made as much money since that period neither. Yet, life went on! with no regrets. Today, that plant closed down (last month), 20 years later! Where are the people I left behind, they are now 50 years old. Plus I sleep like a baby, in seconds every night.

I have no advice for you just a shared experience of night shift life.

at work stay busy keep moving ask others what you can do to help them if you have finished your duties it is very difficult to stay awake if you sit around

  7. Find some creative stuff 2 do.  I used to work till 12mid, Was then only person there, I have to get creative.

  8. dont work

  9. Read books and if there is a computer around surf.

  10. You need readjust your internal clock.  Get used to sleeping during the day, and working at night.

Some people stay up all night the first night and sleep when they get off work.  It will take some time to get used to, but after a while (about 7 days) you will get used to your new sleeping pattern.  Be warned, if you try to change your sleeping habits during your off days, you will have to get used to your daily sleeping pattern again.

We humans need a certain amount of sun light every day, so make a point of doing something during the daylight hours for about 30 minutes a day.  You might want to go for a walk; anything to get you outside during the day.  When you change your sleeping habits you also need to readjust your daily habits/patterns/life.

Coffee is just a temporary fix.  You need to make your change a permanent change.

  11. No, the survival rate is dismal. Increased risk of cancer, suicide and depression. Have a good night at work mate.
