He is a twin. He and his sister are fine during the day, he is mellow as can be but come the 7pm hr he turns into a monster. He just cries and cries and it continues through most of the night until he and the rest of us are exhausted. We have tried swings, bouncy seats, rocking him, baths, everything we can think of. What else ???

  1. colic..try mylicon drops but sometimes there is not much you can do.  My daughter had it for over 3 months and it was all day but the worst starting at 5!  Hang in there..hopefully it will pass.

  2. try a radio on low,or you take a shower and let him sit in his baby seat on the floor. the sound can be very calming. the sound of a vac *** can also work. good luck!

  3. Have you gone for a drive with him...?

The most helpful thing I found was to accept that from X hour to X hour was simply going to be miserable; anticipating it meant it didn't come as an unpleasant surprise, and when the witching hours finally died down, _that_ came as a nice surprise. Plan on going for a drive, stopping for doughnuts, having a treat for yourself when everybody's finally in bed for a few hours.

Can Grandma (or Grandpa, or an aunt or uncle) come by some nights to make with the cuddles and give you a break?

  4. My little one did this at 5wks, it lasted for a week. She would start crying at 8.30pm and i was lucky if i could get her to sleep before 1-2am! I put it down to a growth spurt which normally happens around 6wks.  I was exhausted and like you i too was crying, i had to rock her the whole time and even sometimes that wouldn't work! Hang in there it should pass! If you're really concerned and it continues past a week a trip to your GP wouldn't hurt!

    Good luck : )

  5. defo colic/wind my sons were the same it drove me crazy!!!

i then got told too buy COLIEF and it is fab, he just stopped crying and slept!

you should invest in some. look on ebay, the have it on there, plus you do not have too drag yourself too the shops lol

  6. Sounds like colic. Try putting him on his belly...many colicky infants appreciate the pressure. Lie down and lie him on his belly on top of you, hold him on his belly across your legs, or try the 'colic carry,' ...holding him on his belly across your arm and supporting his chin with your hand. Good luck, and remember...it won't last forever.

Shawn...colic is notorious for 'flaring up' at night. Most babies who have it present symptoms in the late afternoon or early evening hours, and can be fine before that. So, yes, it can be colic only at night. My daughter did not have a full-blown case of colic (meaning she didn't cry incessantly for hours on end), but she did have some uncomfortable times in the evenings - an hour or two at most. Holding her on her belly worked well most of the time, and another thing that really made a difference was burping her a lot. She is six months old now and totally fine. Best of luck.

  7. If its colic you should try the Nutramagin formula. It worked wonders for us. Also you might try putting your baby on your lap, face down (like you were about to spank him) and bounce the knee that his belly lays on. That always seemed to help too. It breaks up the bubbles. My daughter would make some really funny noises then go to sleep. Good Luck!

  8. it could very well be colic, try rubbing him down with a warm washcloth...but sorry to say that you will have to just wait it out. it will be over soon. good luck

  9. My son was similar to this. We tried everything possible. We would lay him on the dryer (while it was running) for the vibrations, we would also heat up some towels (that you dry off with) in the dryer and once they were nice and warm, hurry up, take them out and wrap them around his belly.. But, nothing really helped. His ped. said he had colic and he also said that no matter what you do, when there is a colic cramp, (after he's already hurting) you can't get rid of it. My son was on a medicine for a couple of weeks. It prevented the colic cramp from coming and it was wonders!! He said most dr's will not prescribe it b/c it's for babies 6 mths and up. But, I worked for this dr for 5 years and he reassured me he'd never give me or any other patient a prescription that could be harmful. I'm sorry, but I cannot think of the name of the medicine. It was great though!! If you need or would like to know, I can find out it just may take a day or two to call and ask.. Hope some of this helps him!! Good Luck!

  10. Have you tried Mylicon?  Sometimes it is just gas.  Our baby girl did the same thing for about 4 months, she is now 8 months old and still will get fussy around 7pm but it is b/c she wants to go to bed.
