Question

Well I am a 16 year old and I am dating a 13 year old girl, I realize the age difference is kind of big for minors but she makes me happy and helped me stop with my drinking, smoking, anger issues and high depression. So the love is not the problem, the problem is the parents on both sides, they do not want us together and do everything in their power to keep us away from each other because of the age difference, but my parents alone have a 9 year gap and mine is 3. They also believe I am going to hurt her, which I would never do because I treat her with the up most respect she deserves. Do you guys think the age difference is that big of a problem? How can I change mine and her parents minds about us being together, or at least accept it?

No the age gap is not important never is in a relationship. I am 17 and my girlfriend is 15. But as i say we love each other and that's important, also just prove to your parents that you won't hurting her by dumping her or anything silly like that.  Funny enough mine and my gf parents wanted us to be together.

well, age problems are never fun..I understand what ur going thru, all parents are different and i dont know if this will work with urs, but u need to show them that u r not with her to take her veginity u need to show them that she truly makes u happy without the sexual part of the friendship, her parents are afraid that that is what u want. U need to hang out with her and her parents, go to the movies to gether all 4 of ya, go to dinner, if they still oppose there is really not much more u can do but wait untill she is of age where they feel comfotable letting u hang with her.

Yes, I think it's a big problem! That age gap means nothing when you're older and have matured, it is a huge thing at your ages.  Sorry - I agree with your parents.

i hear you... my boyfriend is also 16 and I'm 13, so i know EXACTLY what you mean... i dont think age is a prob if you love each other... as for parents... idk, i wanna know that too... and i totally understand the doing everthing in their power to keep you apart- my dad wont even let me and my bf ride in the same car! its sucky... join the club dude.
