I am travelling to Paris in June for 2 weeks. I know that there are some new rules about how you have to carry a plastic bag with your items in it.. does it apply for Paris? Do I have to do it both ways? Arriving and departing? Let me know! I am so clueless!!

  1. Up until recently the plastic bag rule didn´t apply to flights into the EU, only from your arrival point on. Ex comming from Brazil I could carry liquids, but if I had a connection from Paris, my hand luggage would be checked and such items disposed. (Was the same for any EU arrival point).

Two weeks ago that changed and now it applies to inbound flights as well.

So same rules as if you were flying within the EU or the US.

  2. There are some new rules that have been made in the Charles de Gaulle Airport, although I don't know if it was only applied there. I was in Paris since last July 2006, and the rules were the same like every other airport in the world. But when I was to go back to California, I had my purse which they made me take out all my stuff and put into a big ugly plastic bag. They didn't allow me to take on water unless it was already opened, but mine had not. They took away my lip gloss and also my gum which had fillings in it. They don't allow liquid substance on the planes anymore, and they only provide the see through plastic bags with no handles. It actually looks like the bags you use at grocery stores to put vegetables in but a lot thicker like ziploc bags. My purse was also taken away, and I still haven't gotten it back. I hope that they won't do the same to you! Bonne Voyage dans le France!
