Any alternatives to using a dresser? ?

i am moving to a smaller house and don't have room for mine and my husbands dressers but need to store clothes. There is a small closet.

well, it depends on the dressers you have...

if you have the wide lower ones, those take up a lot of floor space. then there are what are called chests and they're generally tall and narrower. there are also lingerie or sweater chests which are even narrower and tall.

nowadays chests of drawers are made even taller with deeper drawers because architects are designing houses ridiculously with too many doors and windows so wall space is at a minimum and people need the storage.

Also, an armoire may be good because you can use the top part for one of you and the bottom is usually drawers so the other can use that space.

those options will be much more stylish and longer lasting than the plastic drawers...and more grown up for a married couple.

the plastic drawer may be good for the bottom of your closet if you have someplace else to store shoes.

Wal mart carries plastic containers with drawers that you can put your clothes in. They come in a ton of different sizes so you can put one just about anywhere.

Yeah, I've made a small shelf in the closet of the bottom, for things that can't hang, like socks & underwear.

I've also put my small dresser IN the closet.

And I made a thing out of gluing plastic PVC pipe together, to hang clothes, then stuck that in a bathroom or whatever.

And they make these plastic storage containers that slide under your bed. If you have a bed up on legs, those are great space savers.

Get some of those storage boxes that can be stores under the bed and store the clothes that you are not going to need for a season.

Winter clothes stored in summer etc

you can try a trunk at the foot of the bed for off season wear. They sell plastic containers you can store under your bed, they also sell those vacumm bags that take all the air out the bag for items that you want to store. also I used a shoe holder you know the ones that you hang on the back of a door they are plastic, I put my underwear, socks etc.. in there and you dont see it unless you open up the door hope this helped.
