I just got contacts a yesterday. They are the ones you take out before bed and then the next morning put them back in and after a month you throw them away and put in a new pair. I can get them in and out pretty well for it being the first time ever having them. I know the longer I have them, the better I will get at it. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for make up, traveling, or anything. ANY AND ALL TIPS/ADVICE IS WELCOME!! ThankS!

  1. I put them in before I put on make-up.  It makes it easier to see.  Also, if I put them in after make-up, my eye gets wet and can smear the make-up.

I don't like wearing my contacts on planes because they get really dry.  Take some rewetting drops if you do want to wear them.  Make sure to have a travel-size bottle of contact solution when flying.  I usually take a spare set of contacts with me, too, just in case one breaks or I lose one.

It's not a good idea to swim or shower in your contacts.  Soft contacts soak up chemicals and pathogens in the water and can give you serious infections.  I suggest goggles if you really need them to see and spend a lot of time around the pool.

Also, don't sleep in them.  Taking a nap in them or falling asleep in them accidently every once in a while shouldn't cause too much damage, but don't make a habit of it.  It really deprives your eyes of oxygen and can cause serious damage to your corneas and eyelids and lead to serious infections.

Wearing your contacts more than a month can cause similar problems.  A lot of people overwear their contacts to save money, but it isn't worth it when you damage your eyes in the process.

When you put your contacts in, dump out the solution, rinse the case with solution, let the case air dry during the day, and use new solution to store the contacts when you take them out.  Never use tap water on your contacts or your case.

Get a new case about every three months.  If it gets really dirty before that, change it sooner.

Always make sure your hands are cleaned thoroughly before handling your contacts and touching your eyes.

Finally, make sure to have some spare glasses around in case you end up with an eye infection or have some problem with your contacts.

  2. I  always put them in first, before makeup, etc. Just be carefulwhen applying mascara, eyeliner.
