Any animal rescue ppl or ppl that help fight animal abuse?

Question

what is the best way to go about being in this industry? i dont want to work at a pound or anything like that because i hate seeing animals caged up...but i love animals and i dont thank their is any job i would enjoy more than rescuing animals from abuse or any bad situation they could get theirselves in..but should i start by working at a pound?? or what classes should i take (im still in 11th grade)? and does anybody kno of a place like this around GA where i could go try to find a job?

Cases of cruetly and animal abuse are criminal cases and are handled by the animal control agency where you live - it might be a government organization or private non-profit that has been granted those powers by your local government. In some places, the local police department has an animal control division. It varies depending on where you live.  They usually aren't called "pounds" much anymore, but that effectively is the organization that handles these cases.

Other non-profit shelters and rescues rehome animals given up by their owners but legally cannot deal with abuse and cruelty cases.
