  1. When you major in art education you are actually majoring in two things: art and education. You must take all the same courses that "regular" teachers take plus your studio courses. YOu do have to know what you are talking about too. YOu don't necessarily have to be good at drawing or painting...but you do have to know how to TEACH how to mix colors, what a contour is, what shading is.  The more you practice drawing though, the better you will get. So don't blow off that class. It's a BASIC class for all your other art classes.

Your question is a bit twisted so I'm not sure exactly what it is you are asking - do I like teaching art? yes. Do I like teaching? yes. Do I like kids? yes. Am I good at what I do? yes - because I like it! So continue to do the things that you like -

BEing an art teacher is not any different than being any other teacher except you get a different bunch of kids every 45 mins. or so. YOu also get to see these same kids EVERY year and you get to see them grow - regular classroom teachers only have their kids for one, maybe two years. If you are a K-5 teacher, you will see them for six years!

Good luck to you and your decision to become an art teacher.
